How Do I KNOW if My BABY Needs a Chiropractor

I met a mom a few months ago. She has 3 children. Her last birth was very tough on her body and on baby. Birth in general can be hard. For both momma and baby. There are a lot of pressure and forces being exerted on your baby during her journey into this world. A recent study by Viola Frymann stated that 90% of newborns suffer the effects of birth trauma: associated strain through the neck and cranial areas following birth.  Viola is an osteopathic doctor who has studied more than 1,500 babies across an 8 year period. She examined most babies within the first 24 hours and all were examined within the first 5 days.

She found:

  • 10% had perfect, freely mobile skulls or cranial movement
  • 10% had severe trauma to the head, evident to even untrained observers
  • The remaining 80% all some sort of strain patterns in the cranial movements

So, How do I know if my baby needs a chiropractor?

Here are a few reasons:

  • Her head tilts to one side, even after you straighten it
  • She seems to have difficulty turning her neck to one side
  • She has difficulty settling down or sleeping soundly.
  • She prefers nursing on one side more than the other
  • She kicks one leg higher or turns in/out

If you notice any of these or if something seems off, go with your intuition.  Call Green Chiropractic for help.  Green Chiropractic cares for infants and children with very specific, gentle adjustments and have taken classes on specific techniques for infants, children and pregnant mothers. The force used to adjust an infant is no more than you would use to see if a tomato ripe. Most parents are discovering the benefits of chiropractic care throughout childhood. Chiropractors do not treat any condition or disease. Chiropractors make slight adjustments to the spine which in turn affects the nervous system.
